Bremen is a medium sized city in the north of Germany. You can get to Bremen by plane, train, coach or car.

Please let us know as soon as possible when exactly you will arrive in Bremen, so that we can arrange your accommodation and organize someone of our IAESTE staff to pick you up. This person will take you to your accommodation and answer your questions.

Please remember to bring a valid passport and a valid visa (for non-EU-citizens)!!!

Arrival by airplane

Bremen's airport is located only a 20 minute tram ride from the city centre.

Arrival by train

Because of Bremen's connection to the high-speed rail network, it is in some cases possible to travel to Bremen by train. You can look for suitable connections at the pages of the European Railways or the Deutsche Bahn.

If you inform us in time about your arrival, we will arrange accommodation for you. We search for low-cost, furnished rooms and rent them for the period of your internship. The rooms are equipped at least with a bed, a cupboard/shelf, a table and a chair. In addition there will be an access to a kitchen and to a shower/bathroom. In most rooms there will be an internet connection, but we cannot always guarantee that.

Your rent will be around 350 € per month. The rent will be deducted directly from your internship salary, so you do not need to worry about the lodging issues. In addition, you might have to pay a deposit of 100 € at your arrival. You will get it back at the end of your stay, if you leave your room without having damaged anything.

Bed linen and towels must be brought along!

The first days in Bremen

During the first days we will help you with all your questions and show you the city center of Bremen. You will find out where you can buy all the everyday stuff and what you can do in Bremen in the evenings. Additionally we assist you in getting a German SIM card (prepaid) for your mobile phone so that you can call us and the other trainees at low costs. We will also bring you to your working place on your first working day. Soon you will also get to know the other members of the Local Committee and the other trainees.
